While out Gamblin last time I noticed quite a bit of one-wheel peel. I decided to upgrade the clutches in my limited slip to 03 Cobra carbon fiber units. This was my first time doing work on a rear differential . It wasn’t too bad, if you follow the instructions. I didn’t at first and struggled for a bit.
While I was back there I also replaced the springs with Lincoln / T-bird units, they are stiffer and gave me around 1" taller ride height.
Fun weekend!

Hey that looks familiar! I got those carbon clutch packs too, put ’ em in a few years ago. Really glad to be done fiddling around with that damn S-spring.
My old clutch packs were shot, and I’m pretty sure that it’s my own fault. My ’95 has S197 wheels, with tires that are just a tad bigger than stock. When one of those tires blew (on the rear) , I threw on the stock spare tire to get home . I probably wasted my clutches driving with mismatched diameter tire s on the axle .

That s-spring was the worst. My old clutches looked pretty bad, but I bought the rear end used and have no idea what may have happened to it. Me off-roading it probably doesn’t help. If these clutches go I’ll probably just weld it up :) :)

Which S- spring did you use? IIRC, the one that comes in the kit is stiffer than the non-Cobra ones. I had a hell of a time putting the new one in, and in retrospect I probably shouldn’t have bothered.

Correct. The new spring was much stiffer and wider , I just couldn’t make it happen even on the bench. After some reading I just re-used the old one. Still a pain, but doable.
